£25m Sports Direct bonus for Ashley vetoed

SPORTS Direct shareholders have knocked back a bonus scheme which could have seen executive deputy chairman Mike Ashley receive up to eight million shares.

The Newcastle United owner does not take any remuneration but a proposal had been put forward to grant an incentive-led award – worth around £25 million at the current share price – if challenging targets were met over the next three years.
