AGGREKO, the Glasgow-based temporary power supplier, has posted a 13 per cent fall in pre-tax profits as it cited tough trading conditions in the Asia Pacific region.

The FTSE-100 company, which has brought in Chris Weston to replace Rupert Soames as chief executive, reported pre-tax profits of £289m in the year ended December 31, down from £333m in 2013.

The drop in earnings came in a year which saw the company provide power to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the World Cup in Brazil, which boosted revenue by a combined £19m million.

Group turnover edged up to £1.58bn from £1.57bn, with Aggreko noting trading had been in line with expectations.
