BAA to change its name

Airport operator BAA is to change its name after nearly 50 years.

The Spanish-owned company will operate using the names of its four remaining UK airports –Heathrow, Southampton, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

BAA had until recently run as many as seven UK airports. However, after an investigation into airport competition, the company was ordered to sell Stansted, Gatwick and either Glasgow or Edinburgh.
