TECHNICAL textiles and body armour firm J&D Wilkie has seen profits rise 61% to £242,974.

The business based in Kirriemuir, Angus posted an 11% rise in turnover from £10.6 million to £11.8m in the 12 months to June 30, 2012 thanks to growth in UK and overseas sales.

Net debt was reduced from £2.66m to £1.9m in this period.

The privately owned business makes fabrics for a range of industries and also manufactures ballistic and stab-proof vests.
