HW Corporate Finance has said it advised on a record number of projects during the past year.

Of the 16 deals the Glasgow office worked on more than half were completed following the referendum vote in September.

The finance advisory business said that of the 70 opportunities it assessed during the 12 months around on third of them had come up following the vote.

Among the deals HW Corporate Finance worked on during the year were the management buyout of Burnhouse Caravans, the sale of CB Technologies and raising growth funding for The Football Company Scotland.

Ian Durie, head of HW Corporate Finance, felt there had clearly been a post-referendum boost in deals with many people waiting to see which way the vote went before confirming or initiating transactions.

The business also launched a specialist intellectual property advisory service in the year which worked on a deal involving commercialisation options for a consumer products firm.

The initial success of the venture means HW Corporate Finance is intending to add to its staff numbers this year.

Mr Durie said: "More and more clients are asking for expert advice on the valuation, marketing and sale of intangible assets, so we recruited a specialist advisor, Cat Morton, to advise on this growing area.

"We also hired a research analyst and are likely to recruit further during the coming months."

Mr Durie said the deals pipeline for 2015 was looking strong but raising finance can still be challenging.

The low oil price is also likely to be a factor which will affect deals, he added.
