NORTH Sea veteran Algy Cluff has suggested Scotland's energy supply situation is potentially "fraught with danger".

Mr Cluff cited the proposed closure of Longannet Power Station along with Scotland's commitment not to bring on new nuclear power as reasons for his statement.

His Cluff Natural Resources business is trying to extract gas from coal that lies under seabeds in areas including the Firth of Forth.

He suggested the extraction plans for the company would secure the futures of power supply across Scotland without resorting to nuclear.
