COCA-COLA Enterprises is spending £2.2 million on new machinery at its East Kilbride base.

A robotic palletiser, the first for the Scottish site, is to be installed in early 2015, which should allow bottles to be processed more quickly. The factory, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last month, is also to produce the new Coca-Cola Life low-calorie drink, which will be available from September.

Jim Duddy, operations director at the site, said CCE is investing for the long term and remains dedicated to manufacturing in Scotland.
