He will take over from Philip Smith, who had held the role on an interim basis since the death of Christophe Ferrand in a fire at his home last July. Mr Cooper joins after 14 years at First State Investments, latterly as chief financial officer (Europe, Asia and emerging markets).

Cooper's new Kames role
KAMES Capital, the asset management arm of Edinburgh-based Aegon UK, has appointed Greg Cooper as chief administrative officer.
