WOOD Group Kenny has clinched a deal to provide technical advisory services for carbon capture and storage (CCS) policies, as well as to potential projects across the UK.

The four-year agreement with the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) is designed to ensure UK CCS energy policies are underpinned by robust technical evidence. WGK will also provide independent advice on the technical understanding and review of CCS developments.

The company, part of Aberdeen-based Wood Group, has previously worked on the Peterhead Carbon Capture and Storage project being developed by Shell and Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE).

WGK chief executive Bob MacDonald said: "This contract award demonstrates how we apply our extensive engineering expertise to diverse markets. Utilising our knowledge in CO2 and CCS projects, we are positioned at the forefront of this sector and look forward to supporting DECC in this field."
