Diageo measuring up distillery options

PAUL Walsh, chief executive of drinks giant Diageo, is mulling over plans for another Scottish distillery, after saying whisky accounts for more than half of sales growth in the past six months.

It's just two years since Diageo opened £40 million Roseisle on Speyside, the first new distillery in Scotland for 30 years, which can produce up to 10 million litres of spirit a year for brands including Johnnie Walker and Buchanan's.
