EDINBURGH-based 442 Design has declared it is on track to deliver a 30 per cent hike in turnover after carrying work for clients including The Famous Grouse Experience and Arsenal.

The brand, interior and digital design specialist expects revenue to surge to £1.5 million in its latest financial year, putting it on course for one of the most successful periods in its 12-year history.

Turnover was driven by work including a "seven-figure" contract to revamp Arsenal's retail store The Armoury at its Emirates Stadium in London.

The firm is understood to have beaten stiff competition from major London agencies to land the project, which saw it tasked to improve store layout and encourage repeat visits.

Audio visual technology was harnessed to create a "waterfall" screen entrance and themed changing rooms, with the brief extending to supporting the launch of a new kit for Arsenal and sponsor Puma.

Elsewhere, 442 Design installed a tasting bar and revamped the visitor tour at The Famous Grouse Experience in Perthshire. The attraction, based at the Glenturret Distillery in Crieff, was opened by The Earl and Countess of Strathearn, more popularly known as William and Kate, in May.

Managing director David Dunn said: "The retail sector is now following the lead of the food and drink sector which has traditionally always spent on design in order to carve out a clear brand identity. Our combination of interior, graphic and digital expertise allows us to create compelling user experiences that appeal to clients looking to offer modern, immersive spaces."

Recent contracts completed by 442, whose clients include Tennent's, Tesco and Pizza Express, was a project to create an audience holding and presentation area for BBC Scotland at Pacific Quay in Glasgow. It also developed the areas used by Team England at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Mr Dunn added: "The strength in 442's work comes from our approach.

"Before we design we try to understand the business requirements and specific values of our customers."
