Drambuie toasts 2% increase in profits

SCOTTISH liqueur company Drambuie achieved a 2% rise in underlying operating profits to £2.81 million in the year to June in spite of a 56% plunge in shipments to crisis-hit Greece, which is its third-largest market.

Drambuie chief executive Michael Kennedy forecast further growth in sales this financial year, although he also noted “how precarious” the world economy was at the moment. The company, boosted by a 4% rise in sales to a key US market in which it has been working to turn around a long-term decline, raised overall case volumes for a second consecutive year in the 12 months to June 30, 2011, by 1%.
