F&C Asset Management, the funds house with strong Scottish connections, has promoted investment and distribution chief Richard Wilson to chief executive as chairman Edward Bramson revamps the company after his boardroom coup last year.

Mr Wilson will join the F&C board as an executive director and take up his role from January 2013, subject to approval by the Financial Services Authority. F&C has a 100-strong office in Edinburgh, whose functions include administration of the company's investment trust business.

Mr Wilson said: "With a foundation of a much improved financial position for the group, I am excited to lead F&C and implement our growth strategy to the benefit of our clients, employees and shareholders."
