LUXURY spa and swimming pool installer Barr and Wray has reported a 17% rise in turnover from £15 million to £17.4m.
The company, based in Hillington near Glasgow, also saw pre-tax profits for the year to September 2011 increase from £930,000 to £1.15m.
The growth is being mainly driven by exports with overseas markets now making up more than a third of revenue. The Dubai office has expanded from two people in 2008 to 17 now, while the Hong Kong site has won £250,000 of work since opening in January last year.
By 2015 the business expects half of its work to be outside the UK with clients including five-star hotel operators Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons and Jumeriah.
Alister MacDonald, managing director of Barr and Wray, is targeting £25m turnover by 2014. He said: "From nothing a few years ago we now have around 35% of the business coming from overseas.
"There is obviously huge potential in mainland China so we are working to see how we can capitalise on the market there in the current year.
"But we will do some studies into where the major potential is in North and South America.
"Once we have done the market research the plan would be to open a small office. You really need to have a presence in the market you operate in."
Closer to home Barr and Wray has won contracts to build temporary swimming pools in London for the 2012 Olympic Games and did the fit out of a spa and pool at the National Indoor Sports Arena in Glasgow for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The industrial division, which sells filtration and pump equipment to a range of industries, has also seen growth and makes up around 20% of the turnover.
Mr MacDonald added: "We have a strong order book and are quietly confident this year."
The company employs 90 people in Scotland.
