ABERFORTH Partners has sold its stake in Wolfson Microelectronics for almost £3.6m.

The transaction came in the aftermath of shares in Edinburgh semiconductor maker soaring 75% on Tuesday following a takeover bid by US-based rival Cirrus Logic.

A stock market filing shows Aberforth offloaded 1.55 million shares the same day at a price of around 231.85p. Cirrus has made an offer of 235 pence per share.

Wolfson shares climbed a further 0.25p, or 0.11%, to 234.75p yesterday.
