Galliford Try has Scottish success

THE head of Galliford Try's construction arm said it has performed well in Scotland amid challenging conditions and praised the Scottish Government for investing in infrastructure projects.

However, the company's experience suggests the housebuilding market is in better shape in southern England than in Scotland.

Ken Gillespie said the firm's Morrison Construction unit in Scotland accounted for a disproportionate 20% of the total £500 million turnover of Galliford Try's construction unit in the six months to December.
