THE Glasgow plant that makes ClydeUnion Pumps has been named manufacturer of the year in the annual Pump Industry Awards programme.

An employee at the US-owned factory, Emma Lambert, was recognised as the 'Engineer of the Year'. Gary Walker, head of engineering at the plant, said: "This is a great achievement for the individuals concerned and also for one and all in the Glasgow facility as everyone has had a part to play." SPX, which has its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, bought Clyde Union for about £750 million from Jim McColl's Clyde Blowers in 2011.
