TWO Scottish law firms are expanding by opening new offices.

Dundas & Wilson is moving into Aberdeen to boost its corporate presence in the city, while Aberdeen-based Ledingham Chalmers is starting a Stirling operation focusing on the agricultural sector.

D&W is close to finalising a lease and is taking space with capacity for up to 25 staff.

The Aberdeen office will initially be staffed by corporate partners Douglas Crawford and David Davidson, plus senior associate Helen Machin.

Mr Davidson said: "Both Doug and I have worked on a number of transactions on behalf of clients based in Aberdeen and the north- east or involving Aberdeen companies, and we appreciate what a dynamic and exciting market it is. As a firm, we recognise the importance of establishing a permanent and properly resourced presence in the city."

Meanwhile, Ledingham Chalmers expects the opening of an office at Stirling Agricultural Centre to strengthen its ties to the farming community.

The site will be run by existing staff Allan Collie, Linda Tinson and John Campbell.

Jennifer Young, chairwoman of Ledingham Chalmers, said: "Stirling has an important role to play not only in our work in the agricultural sector but also in providing improved access to central Scotland, where we aim to further expand our activity in the rural sector and, in particular, farming, food, fish and forestry."
