Hotels restored in first phase of golf project

KINTYRE Development Company has completed the first phase of its plans to create a luxury golf resort with the restoration of two historic hotels in Campbeltown, Argyll and Bute.

The company, a subsidiary of US-based golfing tourism business Southworth Development, was backed by £3 million of funding from the Co-operative Bank.

The Royal and Ugadale hotels were purchased by business partners David Southworth and Joe Deitch in 2008 to accommodate golfers visiting the newly developed Machrihanish Dunes golf course, also owned by the company.
