Iron foundry breaking mould thanks to £30,000 support

A HISTORIC Scottish iron foundry is beating off competition from multi-billion pound plants in China and India, and is now planning a recruitment drive – thanks to a loan from not-for-profit, micro-finance specialist DSL Business Finance.

Specialised Castings, which traces its history back to Carron Company iron works, the maker of the famed and feared carronades revered by Horatio Nelson, is one of the last traditional iron foundries in the Falkirk area.
