THE Jabil Circuit electronics facility in Livingston has won a major contract to manufacture a flow battery for energy storage on behalf of REDT, a subsidiary of Camco Clean Energy.

The contract will allow REDT to manufacture the product at scale and accelerate its deployment in the market.

REDT said its Vanadium Redox Flow Battery offers "important and unique" benefits in managing the worldwide growth of renewable power generation. Last year it won a deal to build a 1.26 MWh (megawatt hour) system on the Isle of Gigha on the west coast of Scotland.

David Kipling, senior director at Jabil, said: "We are pleased to support REDT in the commercialisation of its product in such a high growth and important energy storage sector."
