Glacier Energy Services is expanding its industrial facilities in Scotland with a £1 million investment that will create an initial 10 jobs in Fife.

The oilfield service group, which has its headquarters in Glasgow, has moved into a 15,000 sq ft workshop and warehouse at Dalgety Bay, bringing the capabilities of its offshore division closer to clients carrying out new construction and existing refurbishment and maintenance projects in the area.

The group has already won new contracts worth £1m across the supply chain which are being delivered from Fife, where recruitment for additional engineers and technicians is expected to continue during the year ahead.

The facility, at St David's Business Park, is Glacier's second major investment in central Scotland following its purchase of Methil-based NDT specialist Professional Testing Services in February.

Glacier also has sites in Aberdeen, Newcastle and Singapore, and employs 200 staff across the group. Formed in 2011 to acquire pipeline machining company Roberts and welding services specialist Wellclad, the group's buy-and-build strategy has already seen it add Site Machining Services in 2012 and Ross Offshore in 2013 before this year's deal.
