Jobs go in badge firm takeover

A SCOTTISH name badge making business has been taken over by an English rival for an undisclosed sum.

Five staff are being made redundant at Akorn Badge Company, based in Cumbernauld, with operations transferred to new owner Badgemaster's headquarters in Newstead, Nottinghamshire.

Akorn owner Jim Kent has joined the board of Badgemaster. Jim McNiven, Akorn's general manager, is also joining the senior management ranks at Badgemaster.
