BASF Pharma and CalaChem have won awards totalling £4.45 million under the Regional Selective Assistance programme, which Scottish Enterprise expects will help the firms create around 150 jobs between them.

A division of one of the world's largest chemicals companies, BASF Pharma was the biggest beneficiary in the latest round. The company was awarded £2.95m to help it increase production of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids at a plant on the Isle of Lewis. Scottish Enterprise expects BASF Pharma to create 90 jobs at the facility and to safeguard a further 25.
