KCA Deutag wins land rig deal

KCA DEUTAG has secured a contract from Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) to construct and operate a new-build land rig in Brunei, south-east Asia.

The rig will be designed and fabricated by Bentec, the company's onshore manufacturing division.

Aberdeen-headquartered KCA Deutag already operates one 1500 horsepower (HP) rig in Brunei, the T-201.

Andy Hendry, president of KCA Deutag's land division, said "This new rig for BSP is very high profile within Brunei, allowing exploration and development of deeper horizons."

Drilling at the rig is due to start late next year.
