AN AMBITIOUS independent pizza delivery business has created around 30 jobs as it makes its first move into Scotland's biggest city with the opening of a new site in Glasgow.

La Favorita Delivered already has four restaurants in Edinburgh but the outlet on Gibson Street in the west end of Glasgow marks its first foray west.

Along with takeaway and delivery options the building has 30 seats as well as a separate space which can be used for private events. Tables are also adjustable to change the heights for younger diners.

Stephanie Yapp, marketing manager, is confident the business has picked the right location and said: "We spend a lot of time investing in research to make sure the demographics of an area are right."

A fleet of 10 branded delivery cars will soon be seen on Glasgow's streets with Ms Yapp pointing out how the satellite navigation in the vehicles will link up to till points to ensure drivers know quickly where they have to go next.

According to Ms Yapp the plan is for "four or five" outlets in Glasgow with the south side the next area under consideration.

Longer term the aim is for 50 outlets around the UK with the Glasgow expansion being seen as a "proof of concept" in a second city for potential investors.

A crowdfunding bid has already surpassed the initial £200,000 target with the money being ploughed back in to new systems as well as helping with the Glasgow plans.

Ms Yapp said: "We really want to have scalability."
