LAW firm Gillespie Macandrew is to open an office in Glasgow as a result of the growing amount of work it is doing in and around the city.

The firm opened its first office outside Edinburgh when it launched in Perth during 2012.

In Glasgow it is working with housebuilding companies including Bett, Stewart Milne and Bellway.

Alan Minty, from the firm's housebuilding team, will be based in Glasgow full-time with housebuilding head Harry Smith and planning partner Murray Shaw spending part of their week in that office.

Managing partner Ian Turnbull said there has also been growing demand for other services from clients based in the west of Scotland.
