Lift for firm from big deal

OIL and gas logistics company ASCO has bought safety training firm North Sea Lifting in a deal industry sources said could be worth seven figures.

NSL was founded in 1989 by Richard Dingwall and Tom Byrne and both will stay on as consultants.

All 50 staff at the Aberdeen company, which also has bases at Texas and Louisiana in the US, will transfer over. Derek Smith, ASCO chief operating officer, declined to comment on the value of the acquisition.
