Moray Council passed the development, at The Macallan Estate on Speyside, yesterday. The new site is expected to be open to the public by spring 2017.

Robertson Group has been appointed as the preferred contractor for the construction, with Forsyths of Rothes supplying the new distillation equipment. The existing distillery, with a capacity of 10 million litres, is likely to be closed and preserved.
