Maven Capital Partners has led a management buy-out of Fathom Systems, which provides niche solutions to the commercial diving, remotely operated vehicles, and underwater engineering sectors.
The business set up in 2005 has a turnover of £5 million and employs 36 skilled personnel. It is Maven's ninth private equity deal in 2014, following its investment in Livingston-based global cycling apparel brand Endura, chromatography solutions business Crawford Scientific, and IT support specialist ISN Solutions. The deal will see Maven's clients buy a majority stake in the business for £4.25m. Managing director Gareth Kerr will stay in place to lead the company's next phase of growth.
