THE own-label specialist McBride has said it is on track to save £3 million by next June and £12m by June 2016.

The company is cutting one-quarter of its 1,600 UK jobs due to a fall in sales caused by supermarket price wars.

The Manchester-based firm, which makes household products for the likes of Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda, said it had made a solid start to its new financial year.

McBride also confirmed incoming finance director Chris Smith will join from API on January 7.
