New Look success hailed

Discount fashion chain New Look said there was "continued momentum" in its performance after like-for-like sales rose 3.7% in the UK in the 14 weeks to December 29.

Gross margin was ahead of last year as a result of better stock management, lower markdown and promotional activity.

Alistair McGeorge, chairman, said: "The Group has delivered an excellent result in a challenging trading environment. Once again customers have been tactical in their shopping through December, delaying spending until later in the month and searching out best value."
