Optimus shows optimism

OIL and gas engineering consultancy Optimus (Aberdeen) has reported a 15% rise in half-year turnover to £4.7 million.

However pre-tax profits dipped from £354,000 to £256,000 in the six months to June 30 after operating costs leapt due to a rise in staff numbers and opening a new office in Inverness.

Founder Ian Bell said: "Building a credible engineering house is not plain sailing, but we're doing exactly what we said we'd do – sacrificing short-term profits to fund long-term growth."
