Planning improvement

An improved performance in Scotland's planning system has been described as "encouraging" by the employers group, CBI Scotland.

Statistics revealed last week by the Scottish Government showed the number of business and industry "major applications" decided within the target four-month period rose slightly compared to the same period last year.

In total, 38% of major industrial and business applications were dealt with within the four-month target period during 2011-12, compared to 35.4% the year before. Some 28.6% of major industry applications were dealt with compared to just 13% last year.
