Polythene firm warns of waning demand

BRITISH Polythene Industries has warned that demand from the industrial and construction sectors is continuing to weaken.

In a trading update ahead of its half-year results the Greenock company confirmed volumes from the retail and services sectors had been flat, although demand had been steady.

New business wins have been offset by a trend towards thinner polythene films for packaging.
