Proeon Systems says its Aberdeen base will initially have one employee with a desire to increase that over the next 12 months.
The business, which has its headquarters in Norwich, Norfolk, specialises in the design and installation of control and safety systems in the energy sector.
It said turnover is up 50% to more than £1.5 million in the past year and it has doubled staff numbers to 20 with another three jobs expected to be created in the next few months. Much of the revenue rise is due to North Sea deals and Proeon said the time was right for a permanent Aberdeen base.
It has seen a large increase in work from brownfield re-development projects, as well as from the many platforms now operating beyond the original expectations.
Proeon managing director and co-founder Kevin Magee said: "We're delighted to have finally developed a presence in Aberdeen, many of our existing and target clients are based there and it makes sense for us to provide a local service to them. We have seen such strong growth over the past 12 months, especially in our range of fire and gas detection systems, which means we need to invest in our Aberdeen presence and the continued development of our extremely strong engineering team."
