Baker and ingredients firm Real Good Food has said it is optimistic about its prospects for the full-year, adding that it expected its earnings in the 12 months to the end of March to be around £5.3 million, a 60 per cent boost compared to a year ago.

The company, which owns Haydens Bakery, Renshaw and Carluke-based jam maker R&W Scott, completed the sale of its sugar unit Napier Brown to French rival Tereos for £34 million last month.

It added that trading has continued in a positive fashion over the first few weeks of its new financial year.
