Sainsbury's Bank signals growth and cost-cutting

EDINBURGH-based Sainsbury's Bank has signalled its growth ambitions as well as its desire to cut costs by hiring systems expert Steve Burke to fill the newly created position of chief operating officer.

Sainsbury's said Mr Burke would look after all aspects of operations, including information technology and change, distribution and customer service.

Mr Burke was previously chief operating officer of Diligenta, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services.
