The owner of the Revolution and Revolucion de Cuba bars said total sales lifted 2.9 per cent to £111.8 million in the year to the end of June, while like-for-like sales rose three per cent over the same period helped by strong food and drink sales.

The Ashton-under-Lyne-based Revolution Bars runs around 60 bars including one each in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Chief executive Mark McQuater said it plans a number of new bar openings before Christmas and will give an update on its plans in the autumn.
