Scotland makes new bid to enter global data industry

Scottish Enterprise is to launch a major initiative to capture a share the burgeoning global data industry, bringing in private-sector expertise to advise on how Scotland can best catch up with European leaders in the field.

The move comes as the development agency has commissioned building services engineer hurleypalmerflatt to assess the suitability of sites for presentation to potential investors. The use of outside consultants, engaged at a cost of £11,000, was defended by SE on the grounds that only independent experts could fairly arbitrate between competing public sector-owned and private sites.
