BILL'S, the restaurant chain with the "breakfast to bedtime" menu, has chosen Glasgow for the launch of its first site in Scotland.

The group, which has around 50 restaurants in England, will open the restaurant at 22-24 West Nile Street before Christmas.

It expects to employ 50 full and part-time staff at the venue.

Bill's, founded by former greengrocer Bill Collison in East Sussex in 2000, is the latest in a raft of new restaurant openings in an area fast building a reputation for dining with shoppers, office workers and visitors to the city.

As well as Las Iguanas, a Latin American-themed restaurant next door, restaurants in the immediate area include Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Five Guys, and Cote.

Bill's will open from early in the morning until late evening, specialising in fresh, seasonal British food. It will have the capacity to seat 160 diners.

The operator has taken on a 20-year lease on the 4,000 square foot premises, which features an outdoor dining area.

The building was recently refurbished by property owner Aberdeen Asset Management.

Property firm Cushman & Wakefield lined Bill's up as a tenant for the space.

John Menzies, partner in retail services at Cushman & Wakefield, said: "It is particularly satisfying to work on a transaction involving a new brand entering the Scottish market for the first time.

"Our prediction is for the growth of the food and beverage market to continue in 2015, although the focus of demand will centre on the very best sites in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen city centres."
