Hammond & Co, the menswear line designed by Edinburgh-born star tailor Patrick Grant, is set for launch in 60 Debenhams stores next week.

Grant, a graduate of Oxford University's Said School of Business and an honorary professor in business at Glasgow Caledonian University, bought the ailing tailoring brand Norton & Sons in 2005, and three years ago relaunched its subsidiary Hammond & Co as a "diffusion line" (more affordable range) for Debenhams. Grant said: "Going into my third season for Hammond & Co at Debenhams, I wanted to ensure we evolved the collection but retained its classic British aesthetic.

"For me, good quality tailoring is a must in any man's wardrobe but for autumn/winter 2014 we have done it with a twist, in the form of a midnight blue tuxedo complete with velvet loafers - the perfect look for the party season. The response to Hammond & Co so far has been phenomenal and as a proud Scot it's fantastic to see the range available now in more Scottish stores than ever before."

Debenhams menswear trading director Paul Baldwin said: "Hammond & Co by Patrick Grant continues to perform well above expectation and we have been overwhelmed by the response from existing and also new customers.

"It's the essence of Savile Row at high-street prices and we're thrilled to have it performing so well alongside our established menswear designer offer from Jasper Conran, John Rocha and Jeff Banks."
