Scottish Water's £50m Treasury grant will not be repaid until 2017

Figures published in the Scottish Government's draft budget show that a £50 million UK Treasury grant for rail sleeper services loaned instead to Scottish Water will not be repaid until 2017.

This is despite previous claims that the cash was lodged with the already fully-funded water quango to ensure its speedy return.

According to the 2013-14 draft budget, the money will paid back by Scottish Water in five instalments, meaning that £35m out of the £50m will not be paid back for five years.
