Spending cuts ‘are top threat to SME sector’

SMALL and medium-sized firms say the deep cuts in public sector spending planned by the Coalition Government are the biggest threat to their business, research shows.

In a survey of SMEs by RSM Tenon, almost one in five respondents (18%) put spending cuts at the top of their list of concerns.

The accountancy firm found that unease about the fallout from public sector retrenchment has overtaken even worries about cash flow problems at the top of the table.
