A WINDOW and kitchen manufacturer is opening up several new outlets across Scotland after agreeing £3.5m of funding from Business Growth Fund.

Stevenswood currently sells through trade counters in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Dundee as well as at its headquarters in Livingston, West Lothian.

Now it plans to launch new counters in Falkirk, Stirling and Dunfermline along with moving to larger premises in Glasgow which will incorporate a bigger showroom area for its range of kitchens.

The company had moved into a larger factory in the summer of last year which has already seen it increase weekly shift patterns and add around 30 new staff. At least 10 more jobs are expected to be created this year.

Ron Hepburn, managing director, co-founded the business in 1997 with his now retired business partner Dave Flynn.

Mr Hepburn cited the fact BGF takes a minority stake and also provides a talent pool of expertise as among the factors which swung the deal.

Patrick Graham from BGF has joined the board of Stevenswood with David Pearson, formerly group commercial director at Focus Wickes, becoming chairman.

Murray McGarvie, who has served in senior positions for jewellers such as Fraser Hart and Chisholm Hunter, also joins as finance director.

Mr Hepburn said the company already supplies windows to a number of new build housing contractors and is looking in to supplying kitchens into that market.

He said: "Last year we did about £1.5m of kitchens and we have brought in a few new sales people so it is naturally growing."
