Ian Callum, the Dumfries-born designer behind some of the world's most acclaimed super-cars, will be in Dundee next week to give a talk about his career in the motor industry.

Callum is design director for Jaguar, whose new F-type has been hailed as a modern classic. He has also worked for Ford, TWR and Aston Martin.

His lecture, A Life Of Design, on Tuesday at the University of Dundee, is the second in a series of joint events hosted by Design in Action - the Arts and Humanities Research Council knowledge-exchange hub based at the university - along with the V&A at Dundee.

Philip Long, director of the V&A at Dundee said: "Ian Callum has successfully used his design ethos to change the image of some of the best-known car manufacturers in the world through the cars he has delivered for them, winning scores of awards.

"His work is an outstanding example of the fundamental importance of good design to business success.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to hear from a remarkable character"

Tickets to hear A Life Of Design, taking place on October 22 at 6pm at the university's Dalhousie Building, are free.
