EDINBURGH surveying firms McNeill Maguire & McCreath and Allied Surveyors have said they will amalgamate on October 1, writes Scott Wright.

The deal has been billed as a "coming together of like-minded firms", with the long-standing companies stating it will lead to improved service for their clients. The McNeill, Maguire and McCreath name will eventually go under the agreement, which will see three surveyors move across to Allied.

Chris Highton, Allied's director for Edinburgh, Lothians and the Borders, said: "The three Ms brand is one that has operated in Edinburgh for over 35 years and brings a wealth of experience and a highly respected team of surveyors and support staff."

Jim Dallas is leaving Allied to retire, with Aisha Akram joining as associate director.
