Thai chain creates 60 jobs

THE largest Thai restaurant in Europe will create around 60 jobs when it opens in Glasgow on Sunday.

The £2 million Chaophraya on Buchanan Street has 400 covers across four floors.

The group already has outlets in Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield but this is its first site in Scotland. Ian Leigh, Chaophraya operations director, said: "Expansion into Scotland has been on the cards for some time.

"Glasgow's cosmopolitan feel, busy shopping district and willingness to embrace new culinary experiences made it the perfect city for our first venture north of the Border."
