Tobacco firm eyes US boost

Imperial Tobacco is looking to boost its presence in the United States through the purchase of assets from two of the country's biggest players, Reynolds and Lorillard.

The Bristol-based maker of Lambert & Butler is in talks with the two firms about buying some of the brands they may wish to sell if a merger deal is completed.
