Vedanta to vote on Cairn

SHAREHOLDERS in Vedanta Resources will meet in London next month to decide whether to approve plans by Cairn India to buy back £570m of shares.

If the proposal gets the go-ahead 170 million shares will be bought and cancelled. Vedanta took a controlling stake in the business when it paid £3.3bn to oil explorer Cairn in 2011.
